Project Background

This project is located in the Yingshouyingzi Mining Area of Chengde City, which is classified as a key development zone (Zhangcheng Basin Area) according to the Hebei Provincial Main Functional Zone Plan. The functional positioning of this area is to serve as a national base for vanadium-titanium products and an advanced manufacturing base. Chengde City fully leverages its resource advantages to develop vanadium-titanium products and build a national vanadium-titanium industry base.

Chengde Jianlong is located in Xinglong County and the Yingshouyingzi Mining Area of Chengde City, within the region designated as a national vanadium-titanium industry base under national planning. Relying on local vanadium-titanium magnetite resources, Chengde Jianlong develops the vanadium-titanium new materials industry using the process of "blast furnace smelting of vanadium-containing molten iron + vanadium slag recovery via vanadium extraction converters."

Yanbei Metallurgical Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Chengde Jianlong Special Steel Co., Ltd., uses Jianlong's vanadium slag as raw material to produce vanadium pentoxide and other vanadium industrial products. This project involves the slow cooling and thermal splashing treatment of converter vanadium slag from Jianlong Steel Plant. Extending the slow cooling time of vanadium slag is beneficial for improving the vanadium conversion rate during the rotary kiln roasting process.

Environmental Requirements

In this project, smoke and dust primarily originate from processes such as the hot-slag splashing pit, slag pouring from the casting residue pit, water spraying during crushing, and slag transfer at fixed vehicle stations. The generated smoke and dust contain a significant amount of water vapor and are characterized by high temperatures. Traditional bag dust collectors are prone to issues such as clogged filter bags and blocked pipelines. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a dust removal system tailored to the specific conditions of this project.

Design of the Sliding Cover for the Hot Splashing Pit Dust Collection Hood

To effectively capture dust and steam generated during water spraying and slag splashing, an electric sliding cover has been installed over the hot slag splashing pit.

a. Basic Components

It mainly consists of a fixed frame, fixed cover plates, movable cover plates, a winch, and other transmission systems.

b. Basic Functions

Manually operate the winch transmission system to open the movable cover of the slag pool, allowing the vanadium slag in the slag basin to be dumped. Close the movable cover of the slag pool, spray water for cooling, and use an oil hammer to break up large slag pieces.

Design of High-Efficiency Centrifugal Wet Dust Removal System

At the vanadium slag pretreatment workshop of Chengde Jianlong, there are two hot slag splashing stations and one loading station. During operation, a large amount of steam-laden dust is generated, which also has high-temperature characteristics. Traditional bag dust collectors are prone to issues such as clogged filter bags and blocked pipelines. While enhancing enterprise efficiency, it is also essential to create a favorable working and living environment for employees. After extensive research and solution evaluation, Chengde Jianlong Special Steel Co., Ltd. ultimately decided to adopt a complete set of high-efficiency centrifugal wet dust removal systems provided by Shanghai Jieyan Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. to meet national environmental emission standards.

The HDC series high-efficiency wet dust collector adopted in this project has the following characteristics:

🔹 Low Maintenance Cost — The moving parts of the HDC series high-efficiency wet centrifugal dust collector only include the fan blades and the automatic slag removal device, allowing this series of dust collectors to ensure years of use without requiring large-scale maintenance.

🔹 Low Water Consumption — The meticulously designed water level control system ensures that the HDC series high-efficiency wet centrifugal dust collector minimizes water usage, requiring only minimal replenishment to compensate for water loss due to evaporation or removal by the slag extractor.

🔹 Durability and Reliability — The HDC series high-efficiency wet centrifugal dust collector is constructed from high-grade hot-rolled carbon steel and features minimal internal moving parts, ensuring reliable operation for decades under normal working conditions.

🔹 Flexible and Convenient Adjustment — If modifications to dust removal efficiency are required, simply adjust the water level and correspondingly fine-tune the exhaust fan specifications to achieve the desired increase or decrease in collection efficiency.

🔹 Stable and Reliable Performance — Thanks to the unique internal structure and dust removal principles of the HDC series high-efficiency wet centrifugal dust collector, there is no need for regular replacement of consumable parts. As a result, the dust removal efficiency remains consistently stable and reliable, with no performance decline due to issues such as filter bag clogging.

This project processes vanadium slag and casting residue slag by implementing multi-point dust collection and centralized purification measures, transforming the original unorganized emission method into an organized one. This reduces particulate emissions from the corresponding processes and contributes to the improvement of regional environmental quality. Meanwhile, the wastewater generated by the equipment is treated through sedimentation in the recirculation scraping and sludge pool located at the lower part of the system. The clear water is recycled, while the concentrated water is discharged into a sedimentation tank for further settling. A total of 5 m³ of wastewater is discharged from the recirculation scraping and sludge pool for use in wet ball milling or vanadium slag cooling. This approach not only conserves water but also prevents the discharge of wastewater. The by-products from dust removal are recycled and reused by Party A. After the project was put into operation, it met both the client's expectations and national environmental protection requirements.

After the completion of this project, centralized collection and purification of particulate matter during the treatment of vanadium slag and casting residue slag will be achieved, reducing particulate emissions and contributing to the improvement of regional atmospheric environmental quality. It meets the organized particulate emission standards specified in the "Ultra-Low Emission Standards for Air Pollutants in the Iron and Steel Industry" (DB13/2169-2018).
